展示風景より at Museo Camera (Delhi, Gurgaon)

Again, thank you so much for joining us in Gurgaon….!

FAQ.1

It was a wonderful occasion to present our work to our local Indian guests after a long time, alongside our regular Japanese clients who always visit our atelier.

I was a little nervous about how they would react, but despite the occasional heavy downpours, I was delighted to see so many Indian visitors come and explore the cloths and garments.

Since many of our Indian guests asked similar questions, I have summarized them into a short FAQ.

FAQ.1
Is CALICO a brand?

We have never defined ourselves as a "brand." Clothing is an indispensable part of human life, and we believe it holds deep significance as a point of connection with handwoven textiles. Just as craft was once labeled as a "Lesser Art," today, clothing is often driven by fashion—either as a mere consumer good or a symbol of status. In that sense, it might well be repositioned as a "Lesser Craft."

And yet, everyone wears clothes.

Clothing has already reached a saturation point in terms of supply. That is exactly why I have a strong feeling that we are entering an era where we will re-evaluate and renew our understanding of what clothing truly means.
