It suddenly feels like autumn and the air is dry.
It makes you want to spread out the sturdy yet delicate fabrics made by the dyers, which are imbued with the energy of the earth.
Their Japan Yatra (trip to Japan) is nearing its end.
Starting today, I met up again with Abduljabbar, Ismail, Sufiyan and the rest of the Khatri team, and we visited Hiroki Yamazaki's solo exhibition near Tokyo Station, before heading to Takasaki in Gunma Prefecture.
This week, Abduljabbar and Sufiyan will be holding a workshop at the Takasaki Dye Botanical Garden.
The workshop was planned by Professor Kitagawa Miho and others as a pre-event for the Takasaki Dye Botanical Garden Special Exhibition "The Charm of Lac - An Irreplaceable Natural Material," and participants will be able to make bandhani and ajurak using lac.
(Unfortunately, the application deadline in Takasaki City was soon reached, so we apologize for not being able to inform you of the workshops we received in the Kanto area.)
Some of the works by the CALICO members can be seen at current and upcoming CALICO special exhibitions.
Autumn/winter items from maku and CALICO are scheduled to appear in October.
We hope you will enjoy the deepening autumn with Indian fabrics in various places around the country.
