The World of Khatri / CALICO: the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS Exhibition at Lake Scuole (Nagahama, Shiga)

A special exhibition has begun at Lake Scuole in Nagahama.
On the first day, there was also a workshop by textile artist Shiori Mukai, and we would like to thank everyone who came to take part.

Although it is located near Lake Biwa, this project makes you feel a little closer to the Arabian Sea (Kutch dyed fabrics) and the Bay of Bengal (maku and CALICO khadi, etc.).

Some of the works on display are by Sufyan Ismail Khatri, who is currently visiting Japan, and Abduljabar Khatri of SIDR Craft, and CALICO's works are mainly Ajrak collaboration items with Sufyan.

Maku also has silk and cotton-silk pieces that are perfect for early autumn.

There is also a well-stocked Japanese section at Tara Books, run by Tamurado, who we are always indirectly grateful to for joint exhibitions and other such activities.

This was our first time holding a special exhibition at Scuola, and it was a really pleasant atmosphere, perhaps due to the fluffy bacteria from koji and doburoku floating about from Happy Taro next door.

Until Sunday, October 6th

Please stop by.
