We are delighted to announce our upcoming event in Delhi, India, after a long time.
In collaboration with Museo Camera (a photography gallery) in Gurgaon, we will host an exhibition featuring photography, textiles, and garments.“throughphotographytextilesgarments
India is one of the world's leading textile hubs, with markets overflowing with fabric products. Yet, where can one find the genuine fabrics we have long yearned for, or the comfortable clothing that truly reflects India's elegance and graceful simplicity?
Driven by this very question, CALICO's journey began and marks its 15th anniversary this year.
For the first time since 2020, we are stepping out of our atelier to host a special three-day exhibition.
The venue is Museo Camera, a photography-themed facility located in Gurgaon. We are honored to feature photographic works by Yayoi Arimoto and Haruhi Okuyama, Japanese photographers who have traveled with us through various Indian villages.
The exhibition will showcase clothing popular in Japan, crafted from indigenous artisanal fabrics rarely seen even within India. These include hand-spun and hand-woven cloths made from precious native cotton varieties, as well as traditional woodblock-printed textiles.
From our New Coromandel Project, we are exhbiting Kara-Santome (Touzan) like textiles from Tamil Nadu.
We will also feature a special THRIFT section offering sample items and rejected pieces for some minor errors.
世界でも有数の布大国であるインド。たくさんの布製品が街には溢れている。しかし、どこに行けば、インドに憧れ求め続けてきたような布や、インドの風雅や清貧を表すような心地の良い服があるのか。
そんな問いを出発点に始まったキヤリコの活動も、本年で15年目を迎えました。
今回はアトリエを飛び出し、３日間だけの企画展を開催いたします。
会場は、写真をテーマにした施設Museo Camera。これまで一緒にインドの村々を旅した写真家の在本彌生氏と奥山晴日氏の写真展示も行います。
インド国内でもあまり目にすることのない希少な在来種コットンの手紡手織布や伝統工法の木版染布など、各地で協働する手仕事布を使った衣服をご紹介します。新コロマンデル・プロジェクトとして復元した唐桟留もお持ちします。
