It finally feels like summer.
From June 3rd, we will be holding a special exhibition at Fukugido Room 201 in Rokko, Kobe.
We will also be introducing maku's signature midnight sun series, which uses iron mordant and indigo dyeing.
The photo shows Maku's first attempt at bandhani (tie-dyeing).
I feel an oriental atmosphere in the white space that is different from the tie-dyeing done by the Khatris (dyers) of Kutch, and I also feel the simple beauty of the primitive tie-dyeing that has been practiced for generations in various countries.
Kobayashi will also be present on June 3rd.

Fumie Kobayashi / June 3rd (Friday)
It seems like Bengali fabrics are becoming more and more familiar to Japanese summers every year.
Maku's summer series, Midnight Sun, features pieces that breathe new life into the design, including sophisticated appliques and classic jamdani dresses.
CALICO will be bringing you must-have items for the hot and humid summer, including naturally dyed khadi and the classic jamdani.
