Notice of extension of the exhibition period for CALICO: the EXHIBITION vol.1 from the villages of Vankars

CALICO: the EXHIBITION vol.1 from the villages of Vankars is a special exhibition currently being held at CALICO: the BHAVAN at the foot of Mount Wakakusa in Nara.

Thank you very much to everyone who came to visit us.

The exhibition was originally scheduled to end on February 20th, but we have been gradually extending the period due to the large number of visitors who want to see works made from local sheep's wool, which is rare in Japan.

The sheep wool stand-up collar coat, designed in collaboration with Vankar Shamji Vishram, was out of stock in some sizes but is now back in stock.

The item we have in stock this time is a simple white one. Since it is the natural color of the sheep's wool, it has a slightly grayish beige color.
The fabric is hand-spun and hand-woven from local sheep wool, such as Marwari sheep wool from Rabari sheep, with a small amount of Kala cotton, a native cotton from Kutch, mixed in.
The lining is made of hand-woven silk jacquard, which we often use for the outer material. (Luxurious!)

This time, we have also made a limited number of XL sizes.
We would definitely recommend this to men and those who prefer a looser fit and longer length than the L size.

It's light and warm, so you can wear it until early spring.

<The photo shows Shamji's father, Vankar Vishram Valji, and the courtyard of his house. This will be a familiar sight to many Japanese who visit Kutch.
Much of CALICO's wool fabric is collected in this garden, passed through the hands of their family members, neighbours and various weavers, before being sent to CALICO's workshop in Delhi.
