Darning experience (February 18th and 25th)
This is a workshop by darning artist Mayumi Yoshida.
<Darning
This is a free-form mending embroidery style that is said to have originated in England and is based on the premise of repairing and strengthening. It is a little different from repairs that are done to restore the garment to its original state so that it is not noticeable. It is a fun embroidery style that deliberately adds colorful sashiko stitches and allows for fun arrangements.
*We will lend you thread and tools (please bring your favorite tools if you have them) + Please bring the item you want to mend (any item is fine. Items that have become worn and thin, have stains or holes, socks, knitwear, etc.)
*Participation fee ¥1,000
○Sakiori experience (2/25)
You can experience weaving on a simple flat weaving loom. Use your favorite scraps of fabric, such as CALICO Khadi, as the weft. You can take the finished product home with you. Time to make: Approximately 20 minutes
*Participation fee: ¥1,000 (coaster size)
○CALICO Thrift is also available online, but at Bawang we also offer faded or slightly damaged items, as well as repaired items, at reasonable prices.
