CALICO ( @CALICOINDIAJP ) conveys the beauty of handmade fabrics that have been produced in India since ancient times, including hand-spun, hand-woven, hand-dyed and hand-embroidered textiles.
This summer, Lake Schole will welcome CALICO and hold the exhibition "CALICO: the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS - Fabric woven with the wind."
Muslin, an extremely fine cotton fabric that Bengal, India, was world famous for, was called "cloth woven from the wind" in ancient Roman times.
The collection features white-themed clothing that is as light as the wind.

We will be holding an opening event, welcoming CALICO representative Kobayashi Fumie ( @fumie_calico ), sitar player Ishihama Masao ( @tadao_ishihama ), who has also published a recipe book of local home cooking, and tabla player Nakao Kosuke ( @kosukenakao )!
On the day, you will be able to enjoy homemade chai from Ishihama-san as he talks about CALICO's activities, Indian fabrics, culture, and lifestyle, as well as sitar and tabla performances.
