Product Description

This long V-neck dress is made from muslin D fabric.

We hope you enjoy the sheer look of the ladder stitching, which is a distinctive feature of this design.

Muslin is a very fine cotton cloth that has been woven in Bengal since ancient times and has fascinated people all over the world. The Dhaka region of present-day Bangladesh has been known as the main production area. However, the original species of the staple fiber (although I have explained that it was a long fiber, it turns out that it was a short fiber) that is essential for muslin has almost become extinct (only remains in museums), the coastal areas where it grew have been lost due to years of erosion, and the majority of weavers today have never woven very fine cotton, so it is said to be quite difficult to restore it to the same specifications as it was back then (although experimental reproductions have been carried out).
Meanwhile, in the Indian state of West Bengal, there is a growing movement to promote hand-woven cotton of 100 count or more, calling it modern muslin, and there are still a few weavers attempting to weave extremely fine cotton threads of 500 count.

Muslin D was developed amid these trends, and currently, the white fabric uses ambar charka yarn for both the warp and weft threads, while the dyed fabric is woven with spun yarn for the warp and approximately 300-count ambar charka yarn for the weft.

It has a soft texture, allows light to pass through slightly, and has a particularly delicate impression among fine-count kahdi.

Before you purchase

* This product is also carried in the stores, so it may occasionally be sold out at the time of your order through the website. Unfortunately if  that the product is out of stock after you placing the order, we will contact you. We appreciate your understanding.

* Hand-spun yarn is mainly made by women in the village using an efficient modern spinning wheel called an “Amber Charka.” When the yarn breaks, it is spun by hand, resulting in neps, which is a characteristic feature.

* Most of hand-spun and handwoven fabrics are produced in village huts, and as a result, threads or grass may occasionally be mixed in. Additionally, there may be uneven areas, wrinkles, or slight discoloration caused by thread breaks, as well as unavoidable minor stains. Please understand that these are characteristic features of those fabrics.

* Depending on the material, friction during use may cause pilling or fuzziness. Excessive friction or pressure can cause a fabric damage, so please avoid such a situation.

* We recommend washing at home with a neutral detergent in cold water and drying in the shade. Wash dark-colored items separately from others, also use a laundry net if using a washing machine.
