Product Description

This short-sleeved shirt can be enjoyed as either an open-collar or regular collar shirt.

With a square-cut hem, it is also easy to wear as a jacket.

This is an ancient indigo-dyed fabric that originated in the Coromandel region of India (now part of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu) and was brought to Japan via Java in the 18th century. Among these, the series features intricate hand-painted patterns known as “goma-te,” which have been reproduced using brass plates in collaboration with Sufiyan Ismail Khatri, a master of ajrakh dyeing.

The fabric used is machine-woven Kenbric cotton, chosen for its ability to reproduce the intricate patterns.

* Hand spun yarn is mainly made by women in the village using a highly efficient modern yarn wheel called an ambar charka. When the thread breaks, it is characteristic that neps are formed when it is spun by hand.
* Many of our hand-woven and hand-spun cloths are worked in village huts and may contain yarn or grass due to the environment in which they are made. Also, there may be some unevenness, yawning, and scuffing due to thread skipping, as well as some unavoidable stains. Please purchase with understanding as a characteristic of Indian cloth.
* Depending on the material, friction during wear may cause tugging or feathering. Please avoid excessive friction or pressure as it may cause damage to the fabric.
* For care, we recommend that you push-wash in cold water with neutral detergent at home and dry in the shade. When using a washing machine, please use a laundry net.
