Cotton sari patchwork stole (2 colors available)
Product Description
It is a fabric made by stitching together cotton saris (such as Tangail saris, which have patterns woven into them with the weft, similar to jamdani) that were once worn daily by Bengali women.
This is a series that I created with the idea of making something similar to Korean bojagi out of Indian fabric, as the fabric resembles Korean ramie when covered in starch (rice paste).
At first, I thought about making it using old saris, following the example of Pojagi, but I saw that many of those saris were being treasured and used for kantha embroidery or quilting, and that the custom of wearing such simple cotton saris is rapidly disappearing. So I wanted to once again convey the charm of this type of sari in a new way, and so I decided to use a new cotton sari.
Each sari has a different feel depending on the weave pattern and base color. When the thread breaks, it is characteristic that neps are formed when it is spun by hand.
It can be used as a window display or as a bed cover.
Of course, it also looks great as a large scarf.
At first, it is stiff and voluminous, but the more you wash it, the softer it becomes and the more it fits your body, and the texture gradually changes.
Indigo dyed items still have a strong fragrance and also act as insect repellents.
Please enjoy watching the colors fade.

* Hand-spun yarn is mainly produced by village women using a modern and highly efficient spinning wheel called an ambar charka. When the thread breaks, it is characteristic that neps are formed when it is spun by hand.
* Most hand-woven and hand-spun fabrics are made in village huts, and depending on the environment, threads and grass may be mixed in. There may also be uneven areas, twists, smudges caused by skipped threads, and unavoidable stains. Please understand that these are characteristics of Indian fabrics before purchasing.
* Depending on the material, friction during use may cause shrinkage or pilling. Please avoid excessive friction or pressure as it may cause damage to the fabric.
* Please be aware that indigo-dyed fabrics and clothing may fade or transfer color due to friction, rain, sweat, etc. Also, wash separately from other clothing. Be careful when wearing with light-colored clothing or bags, or when using with furniture.
