maku + CALICO: the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS The World of Indian Handmade Fabrics 2024 New Year at Kura-no-Naka Gallery Manrin Bookstore (Aichi)

This is an announcement about our first special exhibition in 2024.

We will be introducing winter items from maku and CALICO at the gallery inside the storehouse at the back of Manrin Bookstore, a famous bookstore in Asuke, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.

From maku, we will be offering winter materials such as jamdani weaving, hand-woven wool, and classic indigo-dyed clothing, while CALICO will be offering items that can be enjoyed from winter to spring, such as bandhani (tied and tied) fabrics and ajurak, hand-woven local sheep wool, and thick khadi fabrics from Bengal, all made in collaboration with artisans in Kutch.

Although it is bitterly cold these days, we hope that with the help of the strong, warmth of our handmade fabrics, we can at least welcome spring in spirit.
