February is the month when the cold winter weather deepens. This will be my first exhibition at Kogei Fumiko in Fukuoka in about a year.
We will be introducing seasonal local sheep wool shawls and coats, pants, Ajurac-dyed clothing, Kharad (camel hair, goat hair, and sheep wool rugs), focusing on weaving and dyeing crafts that have been handed down, updated, and continue to be made in the Kutch region of western India.
There will also be items by MAKU's Santanu Das that can be worn through to spring, including indigo-dyed, catechu-dyed, and iron-mordant clothing.
The event will be held for four days, from 11am to 7:30pm, on February 4th (Friday), 5th (Saturday), 6th (Sunday), and 7th (Monday).
The dates on which Kobayashi will be in the gallery will be announced at a later date.

This is information about events in February. As Fukuoka is likely to take measures to prevent the spread of the virus, we will prioritize reservations and limit entry to the store as follows. Please be aware of this.
CALICO - Indian handmade fabric
February 4th (Friday) to 7th (Monday)
11:00 to 19:30 No breaks during the event
Representative Kobayashi-san will be present at the store during the event (details to be announced separately).
To prevent the spread of the virus, please wear a mask while in the store and limit the time and number of people in the store.
This year, Fumie Kobayashi of CALICO will be bringing us a wide range of fabrics that are still alive in various parts of India, including local sheep wool fabrics made by Shamsie in the Kutch region of northwest India, rabari embroidery and applique work from the same region, and Ajurac block prints. We hope you will enjoy touching and wearing these items.
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, we will be limiting the number of people entering the store at any one time to around eight. If you are planning to visit, please contact us by email.
We will give priority to those who have made a reservation. Of course, you can enter at any time if there is room. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your cooperation.
