Ajrakh is a traditional fabric that has been passed down by the Khatri people in Pakistan and Western India.
Shiori Mukai is a presence that quietly shakes up the world of Ajurac. By blending with the Khatri, she expands the contours of that world with her expressions that evoke quantum or vacuum space.
Sufiyan Ismail Khatri moves between tradition and innovation. It is his work, but not for himself. His work is finite, but the work that is passed down is infinite. By continuing every day, Ajurak becomes perpetual motion. In this exhibition, CALICO was involved in the design and tried to create works that we would like to create together with him.
Enjoy the microcosm of Ajurak that each exercise weaves together.

Ajrakh is a traditional form of printed textiles which inherited generation by generation in West India and Pakistan.
Shiori Mukai, a textile artist from Japan, is enhancing the boundaries of Ajrakh quietly. Her expressions are like spectacular scenes of moving atoms or hollow spaces.
Sufiyan Ismail Khatri is like a pendulum, maintaining the balance of Ajrakh universe, by rounding tradition and innovation, past and future.
Those works are himself, but not for himself. He is finite, but success of works are infinite. Ajrakh becomes a perpetual motion by being processed everyday.
In this exhibition, Sufiyan and CALICO have co-designed new series of Ajrakh to be succeeded.
Please come join us to feel microcosmos of Ajrakhs.
○ From the sales of this exhibition, we will donate to organizations which work on Flood crisis in Pakistan.
