Seasons turn around, and here our Spring has come...
CALICO is coming to gallery fudoki, Itabashi Tokyo. Hope to see you there...!
There is a bit of spring haze in Japan. After the vernal equinox, the air has changed dramatically.
It may just be that the air is different now that I'm back in Japan, but the mild sunlight and fresh air are a real pleasure.
This year, the spring special exhibition will begin in cherry blossom-filled Itabashi.
We are also planning a lunch and talk event with Samosa wala Timoke. Please see below for details.
During the talk, I would like to talk about my trip with Timoke to find Indian fabrics. The trip in February and March in particular was so wonderful (I haven't been able to post most of it on Instagram yet), so I would be happy to share it with you all while it's still fresh in my memory.

CALICO: the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS designs and promotes Indian handmade fabrics .
With the arrival of spring and the blooming of cherry blossoms, comes the arrival of handmade fabrics from India.
India has achieved remarkable growth in recent years and is attracting global attention.
Especially in times such as these, we should not be blinded by the accelerating changes, but instead focus on the timeless work of fabrics that remains in this land.
In villages in West Bengal, where the introduction of mechanized looms is progressing rapidly, some cotton fabrics are still woven on handlooms, defying the times.
Dyed fabrics by Kutch artisans who visit the ancient world and work on new traditional materials and dyeing techniques.
The traditional woodblock prints of the villages of Rajasthan are a beacon of light behind the huge fashion industry.
I don't know how long we will be able to enjoy the blessings of these fabrics, but I want to continue sharing them as long as I can.
Come and celebrate this year's bounty of fabrics with the same natural heart as you would when appreciating flowers blooming in spring.
