CALICO : the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS
Kyarico: The World of Indian Handmade Fabrics 2024
Started in 2012, based in New Delhi and Nara, India, this design initiative focuses on the cultural background of the handicrafts that have been passed down in Indian villages, as well as the identity and motivations of the artisans, and aims to pass on hand-spun, hand-woven, traditionally dyed and embroidered handicrafts to future generations as modern traditions.
We actively adopt materials such as indigenous Indian cotton yarn and wool, and natural dyes such as Indian indigo, and are also involved in creating mechanisms to popularize them.
