Winter Maku Exhibition | fabric camp (Kamakura Station, Shimamori Bookstore, 3rd floor)
Fabric Camp, who moved around Kamakura (camping), settled on the third floor of Shimamori Bookstore last year. In a hideaway-like space lined with block prints, they have gathered winter Maku clothing.
For about 13 years, maku has been based in villages in Bengal and Kolkata, consistently producing fabrics and clothing.
I feel that the work that has been established in the village has become something irreplaceable and irreplaceable.
In recent years, we have also been actively working on ari embroidery (chain stitch) and sashiko embroidery (kantha), with embroidery and hand sewing artisans constantly employed in our workshop.
It may seem like a luxury, but if they don't continue, the scenery will be lost. As long as there are people who appreciate it, they will continue to create it silently.
This winter, there are many silk pieces with a bright feel that makes you look forward to spring.
fabriccamp will be closed during the event on 1/11, 15 and 16.
