Today, India's Independence Day and Japan's Victory over Japan Day, is also CALICO's 10th anniversary.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the generous support we have received up to now.
My interest and curiosity about the world is not limited to fabrics or India, but is as diverse as a child's. That is why I have begun my activities with the theme of handmade fabrics from Indian villages, something I have a strong interest in and can continue to learn about.
"India" does not refer to India as a country, but to the Indian subcontinent. It is not necessary to limit it to India, but I felt that knowing everything is the same as knowing nothing, and doing everything is the same as doing nothing. Even if I narrow it down to the theme of Indian handmade fabrics, the more I learn, the more I learn about things I don't know.
I started this activity with intention, but I feel that it has already exceeded my expectations. It may be small, but it is like a river.
It is important that the flow continues; it cannot be too fast or too slow, too much or too little.
Just as meltwater from the mountains creates flowing rivers, I hope to continue to convey, in a small way, the good spirit of people through Indian handmade textiles.

August 15th lies between life and death. No need to say it is the Independence Day of India, and the anniversary of the end of WW2.
Also it is the 10th anniversary of CALICO : the ART of INDIAN VILLAGE FABRICS. Thanks so much for your continuous supports so far.
I need to confess that I am a person who have scattered curiosity to our living world, like strongly child. So intentionally I made my focus on Indian textiles, especially village textiles, as I believe knowing everything is same with knowing nothing, doing everything is same with doing nothing. I felt that it will be an area where I could keep up my passion and interests limitlessly.
When I say “India” is not the nation, but the geographical area where nurture rich and multilayered culture since the ancient time. but knowing more and more, I realized that I have not known anything yet. Still I am in the midway.
I can say our start was intentional, but our journey already broght us beyond intension. It is like a running river. As a river, water flow is most important. We can not be too fast, nor too slow, not too much, nor too less. We sincerely wish that people's good souls on textiles will be spread to the world, like sacred water running from mountains.
